Lost Hair Symbolism

I get the whole beard symbolism…

jack_beard

jack_no-beard

(i.e. suicidal Jack vs back in control Jack)

And the curly hair/straight hair thing…

(i.e. island Sayid vs post-island Sayid)

I’m just saying…this does not look like the same person!

I seriously expected Jack to say, “You’re not Frank” when he walked out of the cockpit. I just can’t believe how different he looks! Anyone feel me on this?

Bald Chocolate

Yes…you are looking at chocolate syringes. Thanks to Max Brenner, the “Bald Man,” for that.

Chocolate Syringe

But don’t believe the hype…although there is an hour wait for a table, the ratio of milk to chocoloate in the hot chocolate is way off…way too milky. I don’t know where to go to get good, dark hot chocolate in New York – any suggestions?

Awesome Ads

Best Photoshop job ever. It almost looks like a real picture. High Five on that one, guys. But really, lucky that knife was left at the crime scene, huh?

Hive Five for the Fire Department

I had an interesting experience tonight. My apartment has been sorta/kinda smelling like gas for the last few days. I haven’t really been here that much, but my roommate said that it was bad while I was in New Mexico for Thanksgiving (making pie and riding horses, see 12/03 post). It just so happened that the radiator valve broke at the same time and was emitting a large cloud of steam. So the gas thing was kind of forgotten about and I guess we assumed that they were related. Well, tonight, I was innocently trying to make myself a cup of tea when I realized that the stove wouldn’t turn on…so I opened it up and noticed that the pilot light was off! So what do I do? What any self respecting New Yorker would do. I called my mom. But she didn’t answer. So then I called Danny. But I couldn’t hear him. So then I called 311. When they asked me if my apartment smelled like gas, and I said yes, they connected me to 911, who connected me to the fire department, and before I knew, a fire truck and five fire fighters in full gear with AXES were in my apartment. As this was happening, I was thinking, among other things, “I really wish I had taken my super’s number the other night when my roommate offered it to me.” So the firefighters came in and checked the gas and called in a “Code One” (at this point I’m actually getting scared) and turned off the gas. Then Con Edison showed up, turned the gas on, checked for leaks, actually found two, and turned it back off. Now my stove is turned off until my super fixes the leaks, marked with bright red “warning” tag.

Despite the fact that I’m really pissed off because I really just want a cup of tea (and I HATE microwaved tea) I must say the fire department was impressively fast in getting here. Seriously – they got here in the time it took me to walk down the stairs. Alright…here I go to microwave some water and call it tea.

Pie and Horses

Pie…

…and horses!

That’s me on the left (my brother is on the horse on the right). And those indiscrimiate brownish-red blobs on the left are Vishlas (the dog). They’re competitive hunting dogs, and we were taking them out for a run. They train with carrier pigeons. And their owners wear matching all jean outfits (light jean, of course) with their dog logo embroidered on the shirts. Getting weird I know…oh, and I made that pie. I only wish it had tasted as good as it looked. Something about kneading the dough too much…wait for it…that’s what she said!

Chilies!!!

I’m off to New Mexico tomorrow…land of the…

oh wait no…not that kind of chilies…

hold on…not that kind either…

…right…that kind!

Happy Thanksgiving!

High Five for Top Chef

I am so happy that Top Chef has come to New York! So now after I watch the show I can go to all the same places they went to and pretend like I’m one of them.

See…here I am at Kalustyans. No big deal. It’s right around the corner from my apartment.

And here I am at Whole Foods…you know the one in Union Square? Not that many people know about it. It’s kind of a hidden secret.

And finally, my favorite…here I am hanging out at the Top Chef pad in Bushwick! Don’t you just love Bushwick?

On a serious note, it would be cool to hang out with Tom, wouldn’t it? Ah well, maybe one day. But would I give him a high five or a hug…? Something to think about until next week.
